This web-based data repository has a collection of over 10,000 tRNA genes from a wide variety of bacterial genomes. The underlying database was built by downloading the full set of complete bacteria genome sequences from NCBI's Entrez Genomes database, using Sean Eddy's trnascan-SE application to locate tRNA genes, and then running several other applications to compute GC content and other derived data.
The main goal of the DataMart is to give researchers access to this data by generating reports that can be loaded directly into other applications. For example, users can download FASTA files that can be read by BLAST, CLUSTALW, or other programs that operate on sequences; text files containing tab-separated records that can be loaded into MySQL databases or comma-separated records to load into a spreadsheet; or PDF documents containing 2D "cloverleaf" drawings of secondary structure.
